Let’s say you’re at the dealer working out the financial details of your possible new car purchase. Then the finance guy leaves and says he’ll be back in a bit, he needs to verify some things, print some stuff out, talk to his supervisor, etc.

So there you are, in their office with your friend or family member. So you start discussing the possible deal with them. You tell them that you’re thinking of taking the deal, but you just want to see if they can lower it some more.

Well did you know that it’s possible you were being recorded? It can be as simple as leaving the phone on speaker or off the hook. They then go to another office and see what you’re thinking.

This is a dirty trick but it has been known to happen at dealerships.
